Default Wheels and Tires

Is it worth buying a extra set of wheels and tires just for winter?

You'll have the treadlife equivalent to two sets of tires, so it's basically just upfront costs of tires you'd end up buying over the years anyway.

Depends upon where you live & how bad the road salt is IMO
I've never had a 2nd set of rims/tires
One car I did buy a different set of rims/tires that worked better in the Winter
But they became my all year long set

I am planning on buying a new set of rims/tires in the Spring, but I need them
My current rims are 9 years old & center caps corroded
I may keep my old set as spares, but no plans to use them in the Winter

IMO yes. It depends on where you live. Tire size you have etc...

For example:
I looked into replacement snow tires for my FX4. $875 installed for 20" tires. Then in the March or so, I'd have to have them swapped back over to the non snow tires.

Instead I purchased new 17" wheels, snow tires, sensors, mounted & balanced @ $1100 and do the swap myself. Keep in mind 17" tires are the most reasonably priced, and there's a wide variety of stuff out there.
