What's the ultimate fix for my third brake light?
Only part of my truck that looks like crap. The third brake light is full of dead bugs and dirt. I took it off and they are actually inside the light. No way I can tell to clean it.
Reading around on here it seems like this is pretty normal. What should I do to fix the light and prevent the problem from recurring?

Some though are opting for a digital replacement found on ebay.

I put a Recon LED 3rd brake light in mine and put it on with a good bead of clear silicon. No leaks so far and I live in the rainiest part of North America (or at least it feels like it). I didn't have a noticeable leak prior, but it seemed to be so common that I wanted to stay on top of it. Bonus is that I got rid of the ugly clear lens at the same time.

I removed my lamp and used a can of compresed air with a straw to shoot up the channel between the lens and the housing. got most of the crud out.
then I used pieces of clear packing tape to seal the channel. this is mainly where dust and crud likes to enter.

It's not actually inside the light, there is a gap on the outside edge of where the clear front lens meets the black back plastic.
I thought about painting it like a lot do with the taillights.
