Default question about abs engagement

Quick question for those of you with newer f150s. On my 12 fx4 I was driving in the snow today and turned the advace Trac off. Quite frankly I can't stand it and I believe its dangerous only when actually slick outside, but I know some love it so its beside the point. The point is I noticed that even when I turn traction control off and hold the button until advance Trac is off, I still hear the abs grinding under the hood. It will certainly let you spin the tires and does not cut power, but you can hear that abs going nuts.

When I got home tonight I repeated the scenario but had some fun in the driveway turn around. I engaged my rear locker and disabled every traction system and I still hear that abs grind in the very beginning when the wheels start spinning. I couldn't tell but I don't think it does it in 4wd.

The question being, do your trucks do this as well? Can you hear that abs module grind even when advance Trac is disabled and even so when your rear locker is engaged?

Thanks for any insight. I'm hoping its normal as I love this truck but hate hate hate our ford service departments.

I'll try mine tonight...I usually notice it when I try to reverse in my parkade, slippery concrete...ABS is always grinding away under the hood.

Mine only clicks when braking with all mine off but have a 2010 and I think they changed the programming in the later years!

I am not sure but it probably has to do with stability and the roll control! They probably are not overridden with switching off the traction control? Just a guess but I am not sure if 2010 has those features? If not it may be what is happening since Res4cue doesn't have the issue?

Can any 11-14 trucks verify? I know the abs traction controled rear end and advance Trac didn't come into play until 11 and up I believe although I am uncertain about the 2010 given they do share our body style. My truck definately always makes the abs noise when braking in snow, I'm more curious about do other 11-13 trucks make the abs grind noise when spinning with tcs and advance track turned off and secondly with advance Trac off and the rear locker engaged. Thank you all for your replies so far...
