Default What's with all the bed gaps?

I was noticing when installing my bed cover just how many gaps are in the bed of the truck! I could see the ground in the front corners and in the rear corners where it looks like the sides come together with the bottom. WTF Ford? Last pickup I had was a 02 S-10 and the bed in that thing had no gaps except for the tailgate. I understand the gaps in the front corners help water to drain but the ones at the back of the bed just make it look cheap.

All about water drainage. If you want to seal them up get some silicone.

I was getting road spray in the front of the bed so I just used silicone. Once you have a tonneau on there's not much of a need for drainage.

Here are some old pics I dug up of my 02 S-10 after getting it Linex'd back in 02. Pretty sad when Chebbie S-10's box looks better!

I'm thinking about getting some black silicone and doing some sealing. Maybe leave a couple small holes in the front for drains but seal up the rear end. It's not like drain holes are all that important anyway since water can just run out the tailgate but my bed cover doesn't seal all that great at the front.

I understand it may not hurt anything. When you're standing in the bed of your new $50k+ truck and you can see daylight through the floor it's kind of a "WTF is going on here" moment!! Last time I stood in the bed of a truck and could see daylight through the floor, it was in a 40 year old rusted out F-100! It makes you wonder just how flimsy that sheet metal is too.

If you do gravel road driving with a tonneau cover you will want to seal up every hole so the box doesn't fill with dust while you are driving. I just put my tonneau on, and now to start sealing holes.

That's a great point. Gravel dust gets everywhere. I don't drive any gravel but I think I'll still seal everything up.
