Default 2011 engine noise

I have a 2011 f150 4x4 5.0 with 140,000 miles and I started it up a couple nights ago and I heard this noise this was a cold start when I drive I don't here the noise in the cab https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=79l-iX...ature=youtu.be
I have done some research and people are saying its normal but doesn't sound normal to me. I took it to a dealership and they just said ford makes knocking sounds it's normal. I'm not sure what to do?

Lightbulb

If you have a FRAM oil filter replace it with a Motorcraft and see if the issue persists.

Is it an issue with the bypass valve in the filter?

cmbezln - Is it an issue with the bypass valve in the filter?
Actually it's an issue with the anti-drainback and pressure relief valve - made of nitrile rubber (which is prone to harden with heat). It's a LONG standing issue (going back decades) with FRAM oil filters and dry starts. Several automakers have issued TSBs about it.

NOTE: Motorcraft (and several others) oil filters have a heat resistant silicone anti-drainback, pressure relief valve. Others include:
  • BOSCH
  • Mobil-1
  • WIX
  • PRO-TEC (made by WIX)
  • NAPA Gold (made by WIX)
  • CarQuest
.

Your posts are so damn fun to read. That's good info to know, thanks! I've had good luck with Napa gold and WIX filters in my other cars, might give them a go.
