Question about custom tuner and octane rating
Hi I have a 2010 F150 with the 4.6L. I tow a camp trailer and am ordering a 5 star tuner to help it out. Just wondering if anyone knows if it is a noticable difference in the tow tune with 87 compared to 91 octane. The reason I ask is my fuel is paid for by my job and they only supply 87. I am fine with letting it go empty and filling with 91 if it is a noticable difference though. I see royal purple has an octane booster that boosts it 30 points (or 3 numbers) per 25 gals of gas. Could I just add 1.5 bottles to my tank to achieve a 91 octane? thanks for any input

2V or 3V?
You need to run as high an octane tow tune as possible - yer down on grunt and output already, and you will need all the help you can get.
Belay that booster - marginal, fractional octane boost only. It' marketing BS crap, just like their oil. Best product that actually works is Torco - but it's $$$.

Thanks for the reply. Sorry forgot to say it is a 3 valve. Surprisingly it isn't that bad right now and it's even leveled with LT tires. I had a older 5.4 2 valve and it feels more powerful then that. Would you say there is a bigger difference between stock and the 87 tune or 87 tune vs 91 tune? Don't have 93 available in my area

I would stick with the 87 if you have free fuel. The diff for the 5.4 between 87 and 91 tune wasn't the significant to me on mine.
