Instrument Cluster
I have searched many different ways, and found topics related, but nothing specific to my question.
2012 F150 XLT - I removed the instrument cluster to replace factory bulbs with LEDs - I didn't realize there are no bulbs in my dash cluster, they are single LEDs attached to the panel in the guts of the cluster.
I need a way to make the instrument cluster BRIGHTER when it's dark outside. The instrument cluster dimming appears not to be tied to the lights turning on, there must be a second sensor, that dims the dash when it get's dark enough outside. I took off the face plate, and scraped the white from the back of the panel, but still not bright..
Is there any way to make the instrument cluster brighter when it's dark out?
Override, or disable the cluster dimmer?
Swap Dash Clusters?

Have you tried turning up the brightness, via the dimmer toggle? If not, Good luck, on your quest...

Yes, it doesn't very bright. I have the brightness adjuster that is the tap kind, it seems to be well known that the newer models with this type of adjuster, don't get anywhere as near as bright as the **** style that you turn

I have the same year and model. Mine are too damn BRIGHT, I always keep brightness in the middle...

Do you keep anything over you light sensor? Infront of the dash tray....

I'll keep working on it - Are there aftermarket, plug and plat clusters i can install? if so, does the dealer need to carry the old info over, or is not stored in the cluster?

I get frustrated with mine too. There seems to be a gap in the brightness adjustment. It's either too dim, or too bright. I don't know what Ford was thinking.
