Default Weight for winter

I am curious of those in snowy areas, how much weight do you guys put in your trucks? I've always tossed 4 sandbags in, over the rear axle.

Maybe this year I'll put in enough weight to level my truck, cheapest level kit ever

I don't put any. I have a screw but I have never really had a problem and I live out in the rhubarb. I think the best bet is a good set of tires. Extra weight will impact steering, braking and fuel consumption.

I've only used 2 in my 05 Ranger but this is my first year with my 14 SCREW, should I use 4? Don't get a lot of snow where I live.

I never ran weight and last winter was the first time I got stuck (had a 2010 SCrew with crappy tires) this year I have a SCab with trail grapplers on it So I should have no issues

The only time I have ever put weight in the back of a pickup is when I have a plow on the front

I've always added weight, definitely helps with traction regardless of how good the tires are.

Last winter was the first winter with this truck. I had to be careful going around corners as the rear end liked to loose traction.

The truck has brand new tires. Goodyear wranglers, if I recall. I considered adding weight for the first time ever but never did.

My duramax had Cooper zeon ltz tires (junk) but I never had issues in the snow.

I didn't run any weight last winter. First winter with this truck and it was a rough one. No need for the weight. Between traction control and almost new wranglers, it wasn't necessary. Now my 2wd Chevy's I used to own, I would throw around 6 patio slabs in the back of it.

I think if you have 4x4 it's not necessary. I'm also not sure how 200lbs in the bed of my 6,000 lb screw will help...

To each his own though....

I throw 4 sand bags in the bed, or 240lbs.
