Platinum tailgate panel cleaning
Hello all,
My wife and I just bought a Candy Red 2010 Platinum. We pick it up from the dealer in two days, after they install the remote start and Rhino liner.
When we were inspecting the truck, I noticed the Platinum tailgate panel had a lot of darker blemishes on it, all on the lower sides, below the F150 and the Platinum badging. I pointed this out to the dealer and they said the detail shop would be able to buff the blemishes out, otherwise they would warranty it out for a new piece. The last statement had me concerned. Does this piece blemish easily?
This dealer is quite far from us, but gave us the best sales price. I really don't want to have to bring it all the way back to them or wait any longer for it. Is it common for the Platinum panel on the tailgate to get blemished? It looks like what stainless steel would look like if you touched it with oily fingers. I assume some stainless steel cleaner will clean this off?
Have you noticed spots like this? If so, how do you clean your Platinum panel?
Thanks in advance for any information.

You can wipe it, scrub it and even scour it but lets face it..... that panel just isn't going to come off!
Sorry, I have no idea how to clean it (sure someone here will be able to help you) but I have to try and get in their first with the customary Platinum-tailgate-panel-joke! No offense intended and I hope you're enjoying your truck.

I'm more concerned with how to get rid of the Platinum Pimp Panel than how to buff out the blemishes.
My Pimp Panel has no blemishes. You can have it if you can remove it from my tailgate without damaging the tailgate or leaving the unsightly mounting holes.
Or you can just do this:

Yeah, I've seen all the jokes about the Platinum panel on the tailgate. I like the looks, but I am more concerned if it can be easily cleaned and if the blemishes are "normal" causing it to need a regular cleaning.

I have a Platinum and I wash and treat the panel like the rest of the truck. I don't find that it "blemishes" easily.
Sailor Don hates his pimp panel. I love mine, but I have a Ingot Silver truck. Don't get too worried about it, I'm sure the dealer will make it right.
