No, where Ford is concerned ALL dealers/service departments it's a set rate and FORD sets the rate, this all started back in the late 90's with Jaques Nassar or how ever you spell that asshat's name, he cheapened the cars materials and slashed warranty repair times because he knew the crap he was putting in to the vehicles would fail on an epic scale, they ousted that f u c_ker but what he started stuck and when the end game is calculated the Ford tech took it in the *** and still does to this day.

I have every single Ford certification they have except auto trans and was making near $40/hr when I quit the dealer, what good is 40/hr when you work 36 hr's replacing an entire wiring harness bumper to bumper roof to floor and all thru the doors when you get paid 8 hrs under warranty?

That is why you can't find a decent tech at a dealer any more.

OP I would take it to another dealer. Id also look at the face of the mirror close for damage ie scuff marks because that's what an any dealer will do. Its not that they or the tech doesn't wanna fix it. Its they are so scared of getting charged back from Ford on a 900 dollar mirror.

Trickle down effect for EVERY operation under warranty. That's why you can't find any tech's worth a damn at the dealer any more, we ALL left.

Dealers are now mostly staffed with loober goober children that can't decide whether to pick their nose or turn a wrench.

Don't take my word for it, head over to www.flatratetech.com and join the forum or just scroll thru some of the threads.

You are right for the most part except for Ford corporate being mainly the reason why it gets denied. A lot of what gets denied is due to the dealer tech either not wanting to waste the time because it does pay very well for the job or the ignorance of the dealer's warranty person on what is or isn't warranty. All dealer's have at least one person who is their warranty writer who is the person who tells the tech what warranty based off certain criteria. I have seen good warranty writers who can write up a claim so well that they hardly get anything rejected, and I have seen others who could hardly even get theirs accepted to save their life. It's all about how well this person does their job depends on what gets covered in a lot of cases that I have seen at the dealers I worked at. Then you have the cases where the service department just doesn't want to mess with it because it is not worth their time or is profitable to them.

You guys aren't allowed to "flag" hours no more?

You know if the job calls for 12 hours for the repair and you get it done in 5 hours you used to still get to claim the 12 hours on pay period. Shoot when I was a painters apprentice the journey man that was training me was "flagging" 100-120 hours in a 40 hour week and that was back in 1991 right after I got out of high school and vocational school.

That's a real pisser if they took that away from you all!

Yes very true but with the ogre FORD corp scrutinizing every single little claim, tends to make those responsible for submission of said claim nervous.

He is more right about it being Fords fault than the dealership. Ford has had for a couple of years a Prior Approval Program where the dealer has to get, you guessed it, prior approval on some, and becoming more, parts, and I believe that mirrors are on that list. Did they take pictures of it?, if so, then that is why, to send to Ford for approval. If Ford denies it, then the dealership won't do it. That said, agreed, it should not have been denied for that reason.

Yeah it's still flag time or better known as flatrape pay.

Ford warranty pays out what THEY think is reasonable on a warranty claim. As I stated before, when you get 8/hrs flag time for working 36/hrs you get busy looking for a new job.

This is why I bought my extended warranty from USAA.

I can take it to the dealer, and they don't have to ask Ford for permission to fix my truck first. Plus they get paid their normal rate, which makes a happy tech doing the work.
