Default Warranty claim denied...

went into the local ford dealer to get my power fold mirrors checked on my 11 fx2, because the mirrors were folding and hitting the side of the truck and causing damage on both the mirror and the black piece that connects the mirror to the truck itself. my warranty claim was denied because my mirror reflectors were tinted black. I don't have the slightest clue what that would have to do with my mirrors hitting the side of the truck when they're folded! I'm baffled. would this actually cause any difference if they were orange or tinted???

What you got there is a Service manager who's pinching every penny he can. Using the mod as an excuse not to fix. Was the mirror taken off for this mod or is this just a overlay??

He has to prove the modification caused the issue or he must honor the warranty. That little thing called the Magnuson Moss Warranty Act, which is a Federal law.

Do some quick research on that and look at what you did to the truck. Is there -any- chance it caused the problems? Did you remove the mirrors to do the work, pull anything off, etc...

He has to prove it so wave that act in his face.

I've never understood why a dealer would look for a way to deny a warranty claim. They get paid to fix it. They even make more per hour on warranty work then for non warranty work!

can you change it back to stock and take it back in. or try antoher dealer.

I'd love to see the print out with notes saying painted reflector caused clearance issues with folding mirrors.

I don't have power folds but my mirror glass also rests against the window trim some times changing the mirror glass position.

This is a design flaw.

Ford corporate are to blame for warranty work being denied for the most part, they slashed warranty repair times and that is all the dealer gets because they supply the parts.

1 day Ford paid 16 hrs to replace an engine and the next day it got slashed down to 8 because of some unknown super tech that did it in that amount of time.

Trickle down effect for EVERY operation under warranty. That's why you can't find any tech's worth a damn at the dealer any more, we ALL left.

Dealers are now mostly staffed with loober goober children that can't decide whether to pick their nose or turn a wrench.

Hahaha! Yup! Never seen more money for warranty before. Sure we still get paid, but its a fraction of non warranty.

Labor rate at my last shop was $36-40. Warranty work was $21

I'm just going off what the owner of the dealer told me maybe it depends on the dealer.
