Softopper install on a 2010
I just got a 10 F150 to replace my old Ram. I need to use the truck to transport my dogs from time to time, but they made a hairy mess in my old truck so I didn't want to put them in the cab. I thought about a fiberglass topper, but they are a pain to remove and I put dirtbikes in the bed fairly often. So I decided that a Softopper would be the solution for me. I got it installed yesterday after I got off work. It wasn't too bad, it took me less than 2 hours by myself.
Rails on
I had my bed Line-X'd so the velcro won't work. I can't bring myself to drill my brand new truck, so I decided to try using some neodymium magnets to secure the front and rear flaps.
I secured them under a stip of 1.5" wide velcro.
This seems to work well for the front, but the rear flap doesn't reach down to the metal on the tailgate. So I may have to try velcro on the plastic back there.
Getting the top snapped on the bars.
It was pretty cold out so getting it to stretch enough to get the last few snaps on was tough. I had to let it sit for a while and retry before I got it.
Finished.
So far I really like it. I took it out for a drive today, and it worked great. No flapping, everything stayed put, and even though it was raining and I hit 70+mph a few times (and the rear flap was not fully secured with the velcro) no water got inside.
I'll probably adjust everything a bit once it warms up a little more. I want to try to move the rails back 1/2" or less because the top rubs the rear window a bit when I fold it down. I also got the screened rear window for when it warms up.

I loved my softopper on my ridgeline. I just got my brand new Super Crew the other day though, and now I have to get a new one. It appears that it required no drilling to get it on. It looks like it clamps to the rails. Is that true?
That was the case with the Ridgeline as well. It fastened with some brackets that worked with factory bolts.
Do you have a closeup of how the softopper rails affix to the bedrails?

cool, never seen one of those before! Whats it cost? I got leather seats for the dog hair problem, they ride in the backseat.
