Besides when towing/hauling if you have a performance exhaust and a 5.0 you will be very pleased with the sound.

I used it back and forth to work yesterday. 40 miles round trip, mostly expressway. It drove great. One spot with a slight incline where it normally drops into 5th gear while using cruise it stayed in 6th. Dunno why? I like the motor braking on the hills near my house. And even though I have the 3.7 the exhaust sounded better when it downshifted. It was more responsive in the little bit of stop and go I deal with on the commute.

I am going to reset the MPG gauge when I leave Friday to see what I end up with on the trip. Last time I made the drive to Cincinnati it did 19.8 with no load in the bed. I normally do 8 mph over the speed limit on the interstate.

So we will see what happens.

Try running the speed limit if you want mpg gains. Running these trucks over 70 mph really eats into the decrease in fuel mileage.

It can be very educational to have the instant MPG display on and drive 60, then 65, then 70 and see just how much the speed increase hurts mileage. I used to commute 20 miles on the highway and drove 60 in the right lane. Got to work in 20 minutes instead of 17 minutes and 10 seconds, and saved noticeable money every week (it was a '98 Explorer and as I recall I gained about 2 mpg). For short drives I rarely exceed 65.

Last summer I had to reach a gas station, no other choice, drove below 55 mph and gradually saw I was gaining range on my remaining fuel. 3 than 5 miles per gallon increase 1 or 2 tenths in raise of calculated range at a time on the cluster. It ended up stating 20 more miles of range. 1 hour latter at gas station it went from 48 miles left of range to 68 miles. Tank held 25.6 gallons with gas dripping.

I will agree with this. 2000 rpm is the cut which is roughly 70 mph for me with 3.73 gears.
