Mine was on dry flat road...no gravel.

Default Add a twist

Driving down the highway and heard a noise like I was dragging a grocery cart under the rear, dash and gauges went out so I pulled over on the side of the road. Noise stopped so I started driving again, dash came back about 2 miles down the road. This is the second time it has happened. Dropped it off at the dealer this morning and can't wait to hear what they say. Not a good sign with only 550 miles on the truck...

Service autotrac showed up twice so far on mine. Been 1000 miles since the last one. My dealer hasn't figured out why. No noise noticed either time.

Hopefully your service dept. has better luck figuring what's going on and can replace the cause. The rest of us stuck waiting for a solution.

Good luck!

Default update

Dealer called this afternoon and said that they worked with Ford and believe the problem to be the BCM(Body Control Module). They are having the part "emergency shipped" but it may take a few days. I asked about the other posts that I had seen on here and according to the service manager, if all that was done was a reprogramming of the affected module, it is only masking the problem and not fixing it.
Once they replace the part he is going to have his boss drive the truck to ensure that this fixes the issue. If that doesn't fix the problem, I told them that we could just twist off the radiator cap and pull a new trunk under it and put it back on. I hope this fixes my issue and gives everyone else something to take back to their dealers to get it properly corrected.

I too have just had the "Service Advancetrac" msg on my display.

The circumstances were simply 30 km/h going straight on the freeway (yup, rushhour), the tach, for a period of 4 seconds, had an epileptic seizure flickering between 0 and 100 rpm, and the odometer had rolled to exactly 1000km. I though for sure it had stalled (going so slow) but it didn't feel the engine died. The the tach went back to normal, and the "Service AdvanceTrac" msg came on. I dismissed the msg with the reset key and the next time I started the truck, the error msg did not reappear.

Incidentally, I had Torque Pro running, and it logged the following:

U0452 - Network
C1278 - Chassis

According to: http://www.aboutautomobile.com/DTC/

U0452 is "Invalid Data Received From Restraints Control Module" and C1278 is "steering wheel angle sensor signal failure"

Hope this helps.

Wow about same experience--wife actually said it sounded like running over a plastic garbage can. 264 Miles on it, drove home 120 miles, drove back up to town purchased in, driving around a parking lot sounded like the garbage can, still later in town went over an overpass and grinding noise in the front, pulled over, lights in dash were flicker on and off--no gauges, etc.--drove over to dealer and left it there, got old truck back for loaner, will be interesting to see what they say. Not good 264 miles and back in shop. Will keep monitoring this to see what everyone else is having done.

Mine just did this tonight. Advance trac service came on and no turn signals. First happen while making a three point turn. Shut the truck off and turned it back on, still happened. Next time I started the truck it came on but went off while I was driving. Going to cal the dealer tomorrow. 4700 miles.

This just happened to me too. Went Christmas shopping all day yesterday and the Service Advance Trac light came on five different times. During three of those times, the turn signals wouldn't work.

I know it's been awhile but, the trucks all fixed and Ford replaced the Electric Steering Rack. No problems now.
