Default Understanding GVWR/GAWR/Payload on my 2011 V6 Screw

I've been doing a bunch of landscaping, including hauling pallets of pavers (~2600lbs), dirt, etc. I wasn't sure how much weight I could put on the rear axle, so I opted to do half pallets at a time. I'm now trying to figure out how much dirt I can haul. I have a 5.5' bed, which I estimate is just over 2 yards of dirt which Google tells me is over 2 tons (avg 2200lbs/yard of soil).

I have a single axle trailer, as well (which I think is a 3500lbs axle, I have to double check that and the tires). I was going to go to the landscape supply store and get a few yards of dirt, but wasn't sure what my truck could hold.

My window sticker for my truck said I have the 6200lbs GVWR XLT model. Does anyone know how this translates to GAWR (weight on the rear axle) and how much weight I could put on my hitch?

Funny note: when I was buying the truck, my wife said "do you really need a truck that big? Why not get a Frontier, or a Tacoma?"... now I wish I'd gone bigger!

Your truck should have a sticker that looks like the one below. It's located on the inside of the drivers door under the vin sticker. The payload is the vehicles cargo limit which includes passengers too.

Thanks, that helps a lot. I also noticed the sticker above it, but that has different weights.

I did change my wheels and tires, as well. Is the sticker you showed a picture of just for the stock tires? I just find it hard to believe I can only hold 1558 lbs in my truck (5 people + 500lbs cargo would be the limit?)

It's a half ton truck. Half ton is ~1100 lbs so be thankful you can haul more then that.

A wheel/tire change won't increase this any. It's the trucks safe payload limits. It also takes into account leaf springs, shocks, chassis, etc. There are people who overload their trucks all the time but I would avoid it. I'm sure others will come along with different opinions.
