TSB - Transmission Shifting
Hi all,
For those that have had their trucks in for the transmission TSB, what exactly does the dealer do to your trucks? Is it a computer programming thing? How long does it take? And do most 09 trucks require this?
The reason I ask is that I have seen that it's officially a TSB released by Ford, but when I look up my trucks VIN it says no recalls?
Thanks all

A TSB is not the same as a recall.
But anyways, do you have a .pdf of the TSB you mention, I would love to read it? I have seen links to Ford TSB's in general, but have never seen any that get to any 09 F-150 TSB's. Thanks

A recall is done only if the issue is a safety issue that must be addressed. A TSB is an advisory that if a custromer comes in with a specific issue there is a procedure for dealing with it. The transmission TSB is a software upgrade to the transmission control module. Mine is being done today by the dealer. It takes them about 2 hours to do the upgrade to the software. Most if not all of the 2009's need the upgrade since the upgrade came out at the end of the 2009 production. Dealers can upgrade the software on 2009 trucks they have not sold.

I paid for the rental car as part of my service. I dropped the car off before work on my way in and came back several hours later and they were done. It shifts MUCH better now.

I got my transmission software upgraded last week. They did a road test before and after the upgrade and reset the learning program for your driving style. The truck shifts much smoother with the upgrade. Its still learning my driving style but every time I drive it is improving. The jerky shifting and downshifting are gone.
