Default Truck won't start

I'm hoping someone can help diagnose this problem.

The other day I couldn't get my truck to start. When I tried to start the engine nothing would happen.

I managed to get it running by tilting the steering wheel and figured it must be a loose connection in the steering column.

After it was running the red padlock was on solid for a few minutes and then went off and the only gauges working on the instrument cluster were the tach and speedometer.

Yesterday I took off the steering column shroud and checked the connections but couldn't find any problems.

Today when I tried to start the truck I could hear a click coming from the fuse box and the truck wouldn't start.

I cleaned some corrosion off my battery posts and now my gauges are twitching even with the key in the off position.

Any ideas what could be causing this?

If you had a lot of corrosion on the terminals it may have crept up inside the cable coverings. Give us some more info. about you truck, year, model, engine, etc. Maybe someone has had a similar problem that could help. Good luck.

Corrosion on terminals was minor. Truck is a 2009 F150 4x4 King Ranch 5.4 engine with 65,000 km.

If it's on the original battery, you should change it out for a new one. A bad cell can cause a lot of issues. OEM batteries are not made to last very long. The trucks eat electricity and burn gas. Buy a good one and drive on.

I tried another battery but it's still not cranking.

A few more things i've noticed:

No door chime when door is open and key is in the ignition.

Red padlock is flashing fast when key is on.

The digital display on the instrument cluster isn't working.

Sounds to me like an ignition issue/key/mykey issue. It seems like your truck's anti-theft is malfunctioning. The first thing I would do is reset the computer by disconnecting the battery for 10-15 minutes.

Yeah, I think it might be the ignition switch.

This guy was having the same problem.

I had the battery disconnected overnight but it didn't help.

Fuses are good.
