By your own admission, your dad has Said a couple of times now to hang in there. He is well off for a reason and you should follow his advice but you just want out from under the truck as you feel it will never be right.

So your dad is bailing you out because the banks won't loan you money to buy another $45,000 truck. If the banks won't extend you the loan then you may not be in the best position to do so. So buying a beater will help you appreciate the $45,000 truck you have now even if it has a few little problems.

Nothing I've said was out of line. When you put yourself out there then people respond. If you don't like the responses then don't put it out there. What do you want, everyone to hold your hand and tell you it's going to be ok?

As to the lottery comparison, not even close!
Are you on drugs....your not making any sense.

I can tell bigcountrytexas made A LOT of financial mistakes growing up. Probably lost his fiancé to a college guy in a nice truck.

Well I won't deny my family was not rich. They couldn't afford me me a $45k truck. My first car was actually a Isuzu Pickup. Fun little truck! hehe. I have owned mostly luxury cars and some trucks most of my life. So I have done pretty well till recently.

You know, I've had the same thoughts as bigcountrytexas. I've seen countless spoiled brats in Alberta, beating the crap out of daddy's trucks, boats, quads etc. This province has a LOT of people with money, and a lot of kids brought up not knowing the value of a dollar. If I stumbled on to this thread without any knowledge of the OP, I might think he's an entitled brat.

BUT, I've had the chance to talk with him on a number of occasions, and we met up one day and had a few beers and some wings. I can say that although he's only 18, he has his act together and he isn't some privileged ****. He knows his stuff, he works and goes to school. He's a stand up guy and I'm glad things are working out for him.

One more thing, it's not uncommon to find 18-19 yr olds making $100k+ in Alberta. Just look at all the lifted super duties here!!

So you've paid off a truck worth at least 31k in trade and you can't get a bank to finance 10k with that much in collateral? What kind of bank would turn that down? A bank who hates money? lol

I never got a loan from the bank on my 2011. I took the cash from what I got for my 05 FX4, threw some more cash in and loaned the rest from my dad. I have paid it off since.

I wish I could get $31k on trade, lol.

Oh, and I got my truck back tonight. They adjusted the hood switch, that's all they did. Remote start still works about half the time.

Even if your trade was only worth 25 a bank would probably work with you. Loan you 16k on a high interest rate with collateral already worth more than the principal? Easy money for them.

You're better off taking a loan from a bank. It will be cheaper from dad, but dad doesn't rebuild your admittedly bad credit.
