One of two thoughts:

Something is not happy in the top end or;

An exhaust leak at the bottom of the downpipe?

No, it's mechanical. I've heard it more than once with the hood up. It doesn't sound like something rattling, more like something grinding. Sounds lower down.

This thread alone makes me not want to look at the F150 now for a truck soon. :/ May have to go get a Tundra.

You'd put a Tundra over a 14 Silverado? Or 14 Ram? That's my order if Ford didn't exist. And I've driven them all now.
