So let's summarize, shall we? The dealer obviously found that my basic modifications (which are done by about 75% of other members on this forum with zero issues) weren't the cause of the issue, thus being a defective OEM part and was therefore covered under warranty.

PS: GMC Sierra is the only option I could even bring myself to look at.

I think his point is that by warranty laws, they really don't have to fix anything as long as they can prove that the modification caused the failure. Luckily his dealer was willing to help, albeit they haven't gotten it right so far. But he does have a modified pickup with a tuner, Ranchos, bigger tires, etc. You can't say that's not modified.

There's thread after thread about how modifications affect warranty and these 3 are about the most common and most dealers will jump at the chance to bail from warranty work. You know this as does anyone who's perused through the forum. It's common sense. If they were to allow warranty work on vehicles with bigger tires, what size do you stop it at? What other modifications do you allow? It's a slippery slope and if they do start fixing stuff with mods under warranty, they'll just add it onto the price we pay. We pay for everything one way or another.

I feel for him and his issues but he knew these things when he modified it. If he was having steering rack issues before, he should've gotten it fixed before giving the dealer any thought that it was because of his mods. JMHO, I'm one of the one who's way out of warranty

Rear end click? Steering rack knock? Transmission hard shifts? You don't think any of these things could very easily be related to the lift kit you put on and the tune that modified your transmission shift points? And you expect Ford to troubleshoot your problems on their dime just pretending that you didn't violate your warranty terms as very clearly outlined in the written warranty? As far as I can see they did you a favor even looking into those problems.

Guys, we ALL pay for stuff like this. Warranty costs go up because of guys like this. When owners screw up their trucks, violate the warranty and then cry when the problems can't be fixed for free, it annoys me and it should annoy you.

You're right, I'm wrong. Ford shouldn't have fixed defective OEM equipment based on the assumption that a 2" change in suspension geometry ****s up the entire steering system
, and 10lbs more per corner will case my rear end to suggest an explosion.

If you would've read, you would've found that these issues have been happening for up to 2 years, I've had a leveling kit on for 2 months.

I have finally become unbiased and open to different truck options due to my predicament. I see the competitors in a completely different light.
I like the looks of the GMC and Chevy, myself. I think I would hold out as long as possible and see if their direct injection (new for this year) has any bugs to be worked out. I'm speaking of the 5.3, I don't know if the larger motor (still 6.0, 6.2??) got the changes or not, but I believe it did..

You said the steering issue on your truck started before the larger tires, and I believe you. I do wonder if the larger and heavier tires could damage the electronic power steering. I'm not saying yours did at all, but I do see how they could void the warranty if someone installed larger tires. I like the EPAS as long as it's working, but I question how heavy duty it is. We had an 08 Malibu with electronic power steering, and some part on it's PS system had to be replaced under warranty. The steering wheel had a clunking or knocking feel for the next 80k miles. I never bothered trying to get it fixed again, just lived with it. It may not have been as severe as what your truck does. Do the GM trucks have electronic pwr steering yet?

I really like the look of the 2014 GMC. But, at the time, the incentives didn't come close to FORDS.

Really??

I just went through this with my Truck but I have very little KM's on it 6,800km when it went in but the rear end stuff started at 1,200Km's (Still stock) & the Trans shifting hard and lagging

I also Posted a thread called: (check it out)
Warranty Work Performed my Dealer and did an awesome job!!

I have 3"' Pro Comp leveling kit, BFG 34.1" tires(per tire only 5lbs heavier then stock 31.9"), K&N series 63 Kit and all my work was Warranty from TSB's it started off in here F150 Forum with Ashley & Bianca, then they got me Jacqueline Ford Service CA, who was from Florida who was in contact with my Dealer's Service manager till the truck went in and work performed & my service Rep Christine was 100% on the ball getting it all done with the right Tech's

They road tested it 40 some Km's

Rear End oil slinger was changed and all new bolts and lock nuts, TSB

Trans was 2 TSB for hard shifting and lag in reverse

Trans Cold start Lundging and Jerking going from 1-2-3 gears TSB fixed it

Latch broke off slider, they replaced the whole slider

3rd Brake light fills up with water, replaced new Brake light

Back door stopper broke off, new one replaced

Driver's Mirror fell out, they took it out and popped back in no charge

Retorqued wheels after roation, topped air to 40 p.s.i

only charged 40.00 for car rentle they had truck for 4 days in out fast like bunny.....

This truck is Better then it was when New (stock), shifts faster smoother, no lag, no clicking or popping, it goes off the line like my Supercharged GTP Grand Prix. It feel's tight and solid, goes like scared bunny......

Maybe I just have a Great Dealer and Service Rep, but they have been the best right from buying this truck, best deal, gave there cost on all accessories I put on through the Custom shops they use.

Just saying......there are thousands of these trucks needing TSB's mind you mine is 2012 and most TSB's are 2012-2013, but there is a flaw there somewhere with the parts in the rear-end.

If you can't do this to a truck then something wrong with there design...my older trucks with actual lift kits and 38 " tires never had these problems....and we drove these trucks hard
