Default Need advice guys!!

Hey Guys,

I'm looking at a 2009 5.4 4x4, for around $12500. Or I can get a 2011 5.0 for $25000, but I am just wondering what you guys think about the differences in cost. Would the extra MPG ever add up, I drive about 12K a year, and plan on owning the truck till she dies. Currently have a 97 4.6 w 310k, no complaints. Thanks guys!

Is the 2011 also 4x4 (compare apples to apples and oranges to oranges)?
Are either under warranty?
How many miles on each?

For mileage do the following:

Figure out the MPGs for each vehicle. Then take the price for a gallon of gas and divide the MPGs to get the cost per mile. Take the cost per mile times 12,000 and then you compare to get the difference in gas cost per year.

Thanks for the reply. They are both 4x4, about same KM ( 150K), and no warrenty. Would payoff the 09 faster, just wondering if the extra ~$10K is worth it or not.

2011 is overpriced at $25k, i would go with the 09 if it looks that it was well maintained.

Thanks everyone, looks like it would take 36 years to make up for the differences in fuel and purchase price. 09 better choice.

Thanks. That's what I'm leaning towards. 5.4 is bulletproof too, and the spark plug issues supposedly fixed too .

WIth that much price difference the 2009 makes sense. The 2009 has the 6 speed so the 5.4L feels like a whole new motor mated to that transmission when compared to the old 4 speed.

$25K for a 2011 seems a bit steep without knowing anything else about it. The 2009 price tag appears to be a bit more forgiving.
