Man. sucks. now Iam worried .
picked one up few days ago got little over 500 on it.
I had 2 42REs failed on me in my grand cherokee . one factory another one build in Arizona ( BAD bearing chewed everything up )
I hope there's no werid recall on tranny cuz that would really suck.
hope you'll get your truck ether replaced

wbull, My last job I had a work shop that one of its windows looked right at a parking lot where brand new Peterbuilt trucks were parked every night. Every night (my shift) I noticed headlights on all those trucks on for a while then off, back on after maybe 30 minutes then off for a few hours. This happened all night long. Most times the trucks started every morning but as time went on and the trucks got older some did not because of dead batteries.
I asked the maint. people why the lights go on and off all the time and there answer was; "The on board computers have a glitch and Peterbuilt can't find the fix."
So there you go... Spend 100k for a tractor and get JUNK to control it!

^^^^^^+ 1 I would be willing to bet a weeks salery[Im retired] that the whole trans problem is computer related and could well be from the jump start or trying to operate it with alow voltage condition posibly a failed alternater. granted it should not have happend but way to often the "techs" at the dealers are not well versed in computer diagnostics and tend to blame the hard parts.$0.02 worth bubbabud

I kind of think the thread name is a little misleading, and giving in to the 'Ford tranny issue' conjecture. This sounds 100% computer/electrical in nature, in turn affecting the powertrain.

transmission issue
My son just purchased a custom made 2012 Ford F150 FX4 just off the assembly line. He picked it up on Friday - today, Sunday (2 days later), with 92 miles on the truck, it stops dead and he coasts to the side of the road - engine runs - no movement forward or reverse. Any ideas of what could of happened. The truck got towed to the Ford dealer. This is tough to believe with a $40,000+ truck.

My 2012 SCREW FX4 4x4 either dropped into neutral or missed the 2-3 gear shift at WOT. Gotta love having your foot to the floor with the tach sitting at 6000rpm and slowing down, not good feeling. Has not done it again in 600kms????
