Transmission fluid everywhere!!!

Had a message on my phone from the dealer. They tore the transmission apart today and in addition to a bad pump they found scoring on the torque converter. Ordering parts in the morning, won't be done until next week. But now that they found some other damage, I'm even more concerned about what else is in there that they didn't see. I know from my experiences at work that just because you can't see damage on bearings and gears, it doesn't mean that it isn't there subsurface and isn't going to continue getting worse.

Tell them you don't care how long they have it....and you want an additional warranty on the tranny..at least a year or a written doc stating they went through the transmission. Let them know you tow!-you want piece of mind-period!

Yep, I plan on it. I'll call the dealer back in the morning and if I don't get anywhere with them, I've been talking with the Ford regional customer service manager as well so I'll give her a call back.

I'm reading this thread with great interest as we just purchased a 2011 Ford F150 with 30k miles/automatic transmission. The truck was built July 1, 2011. I realize this is outside the dates for the bulletins, but still of concern. I'll be looking under the truck for the next few weeks. We purchased the extended full service plan.

I think the problem was a bad batch of pumps from a supplier, and Ford can usually track that to a very specific range of trucks, so I wouldn't worry too much. Also, the trucks with bad pumps seemed to fail pretty quickly... Back in 2011 it was a hot issue, but my guess is most trucks that had bad pumps have already leaked or failed and already had the pumps replaced.

Tsb don't work that way you can't tell them to go through it because it's under warranty. The dealer didn't go through anything. They removed the trans and have to remove the converter to gain access to the pump. That's when they found the scoured converter. If they are claiming the tsb that's all the work ford will pay for and all the tech will do. You might get lucky and get an extension of the power train warranty. Love how people comment I would do this or not take it till they do that. Their the same ones throwing a fit if it's not done at a specific time.
