They are not how you describe them - they are great trucks.

You best go look at other dealers, you will see.

The world has moved on.

Good luck, thanks.
Oh, ok. I guess it left me behind then huh ....oh well, not much missed.

I am still a bit lost on where I stated that "those trucks" weren't great trucks? I said the fancy models seem to be to impress... more so than work. They are all great trucks IMO. All will do the job, just some at half the price.

I have a 2004 FX4 and it is offroaded everyday that it is driven, usually 5+ days a week... The only reason that it is an FX4 and not a XLT or XL is becuase it was the right price at the time. It runs great, handles b!itchen in the snow (thanks to my new tires) and is comfortable as hell to drive.

BTW, if the dealer does not have what you want, have them order it, carpet delete and all...
ok man, I got ya. I was getting at it "might" discourage owners from actually trying to work on their truck themselves.

Should have clarified a bit better, if you guys like road jewelry truck...that's great. Keeps folks in jobs. Me, I want a basic work truck because I have children and I don't like having to "worry" about stuff getting on the carpet.

I have the part figured out that I can "order" it. But if they had it on the lot, I could test drive the truck I am going to buy...that's all. When I asked BOTH dealerships in my area, all they had was fancy models with more options than I need ... FX4, Lariat, and a few platinum trucks. NO XL F150 4x4....again as "JonWill" stated, I guess the world has moved on without me I am not missing much, my older truck runs great. Eventually they will get an actual work truck on the lot, not a cowboy cadillac, and I'll make the move then as soon as I can test drive it.

I follow you, I think that the ones you are seeing at the dealers is what they ordered... What you want is the "contractors edition" LOL... That is basically what my 2000 XLT was (or gardeners edition, as my brother called it)... The dealer can def. order it that way, most are probably fleet trucks that are ordered exactly as the new owner will want it.

pretty much, I am just not into all the gizmo's and leather interior. AN XLT would do just fine, but I don't like the price bump to get one. I would rather get a few xtra options on the XL for cheaper.

Nothing wrong with that. Different strokes for different folks.

THE ONLY reason I got an FX4 was for the LOCKER, thats it, if they had one in the XL or STX that would be sitting in my driveway.
