Default Transmission dipstick?

I did perform a search on the 2010 models and did not find any thread on this. Everybody OK w/o trans dipstick? If there is one I could not find it.
Thoughts please

There is one but it is a biatch to get to. I don't like not having one. I also don't like not having a fuel filter I can change every 15k.

From the owner's manual, page 395:

"Checking 6-speed automatic transmission fluid
The automatic transmission does not have a transmission fluid dipstick.
Refer to your
scheduled maintenance information for scheduled
intervals for fluid checks and changes. Your transmission does not
consume fluid. However, the fluid level should be checked if the
transmission is not working properly, (i.e., if the transmission slips or
shifts slowly) or if you notice some sign of fluid leakage.

Transmission fluid should be checked by an authorized dealer. If
required, fluid should be added by an authorized dealer.
Do not use supplemental transmission fluid additives, treatments or
cleaning agents. The use of these materials may affect transmission
operation and result in damage to internal transmission components."

So, no there is not a dipstick. And I guess part of me is OK with that, there's no dipstick for the rear end or transfer case after all. And if it is true that "Your transmission does not consume fluid." then there should be no need to check it.

But it's an old habit of many years to do a periodic fluids check and I keep looking for the transmission dipstick.

Yes there is a "dipstick". I'm not sure on what side but it is behind the cat

Not if you got the six speed auto on the 2010. Two different dealerships say so, my book says so, and Dad and I have spent a lot of time looking for it first.

If you still disagree, post a pic. I'd like to see it.

My Range Rover doesn't have a trans dipstick either. Drove me nuts at first, but after awhile you just don't worry anymore.

it does have a "dipstick". it is on the pass. side of the trans. looks like a long lug nut sticking out of the trans. it is not run up to the top as before. should not need to check the fluid for a few years anyway.
by then it will be ready for changing and any reputable trans shop can change it for you.

Not to quibble with you on the definition of "dipstick" (I've been called one myself, and I don't think they were calling me a way to check fluid levels ) But to me a dipstick is something the owner can easily access from the engine compartment to check the fluid level with nothing else but a rag.

If you have to crawl up under the truck with a wrench, then to me that's not a dipstick, and FoMoCo apparently agrees with that, since the owner's manual says there isn't one.

Consider yourselves lucky.

The wife's '03 Benz did not even have an oil dipstick!!

You turned on the key with the engine off, and scrolled until the dash LCD showed the oil level as OK or not.

I basically did not open the hood for months at a time, and then just to glance at the anti-freeze bottle. Mostly I looked at her parking space in the garage to check if there was oil dripping anywhere.

It was hard to argue with this, because I never added a drop of fluids between annual (6,000 mi) changes.
