Default Transmission

2013 XLT 27k

Have the clunk when at low speed take off. Going to dealer tomorrow hopefully they grease this thing or do whatever deem necessary without a problem. Next is this on the dash I see the gears change all the way to 6th gear. When I slow down it NEVER goes into 2nd gear. Always 3rd to 1st wtf!!!! Is this an issue. Is it not engaging. Please help

The clunk should clear up with greasing of the slip yoke splines. Your 3 to 1 gear downshift is normal.

I have no clue why its normal. Just is. People ask about it all the time and everyone always says its normal for that trans.

My 2014, with the 5.0, downshifts 3rd to 1st when coming to a stop and did it from day one.

I only used the stock tune for the first few hundred miles.

I am now running the 5-Star 91 Octane Performance tune (with the shift pressures set 10% higher) and the transmission still downshifts from 3rd to 1st when slowing.

This shifting logic does not seem to hurt performance. Probably, if I did not routinely operate with the gear selection displayed, I would not have even noticed.

Ok just came from the dealer after they called me to come back and test drive it. First they said I have a one piece drive shaft (already knew this) and they can't grease the slip yoke. Got me I'm not a mechanic. They told me they took the drive shaft out and greased the u bolts or something and put a sling (no clue) on it. Seems better to be honest. They are reprogramming the tcm later and I will pu tomorrow. How's this all sound fellas. I'm no mechanic by any means.
