Resurrecting an older thread

I was reading about traction control and what it will and will not generally allow you to do. I have a 2014 f150 plat screw 5.0 and it went in for some 4x4 service due to sticking hubs. With traction control on I can do donuts with some wheel spin in the snow. You can hear and feel the truck limiting the rear wheels but nothing to stop it from doing donuts.

Anyone else able to do this? What will your truck let you do in the snow with traction control on?

I'm concerned that the traction control isn't working correctly or that when being serviced something got messed up.

Mine won't let me do much of anything with the traction control on. Even with it "off" it still seems pretty restrictive.

Tried doing donuts in the snow tonight and was utterly disappointed. Advance trac off and as soon as the truck would slide it'd cut power. In a straight line it stayed under full power spinning but kills the truck during a slide.

We recently had some snow and mainly ice on the roads and I would have it in 2WD and while in drive and stopped I held down the traction control button until it flashed on the dashboard. It does not limit power at all. I would be sliding backwards with the wheels spinning forward and my speedometer saying I was going 105mph

I'd be willing to bet this is due to trailer sway control on your truck. My KR has it, and if I have everything off I can have plenty of fun until the truck gets a certain G sideways then the engine power just disappears until the G forces are back to within normal spec...

that'd be it lol. Kind of a buzz kill in an empty snow filled parking lot.

I know I have seen another thread on here that displayed a way to "cut" the circuit used for trac/stability control and install an override switch. The only down side to this is the same fuse that controls stability and traction control, is the same one that controls ABS. ABS is not necessary if you understand you must pump the breaks, or release them entirely to turn, but it can be handy from time to time.

If anyone can find that thread I would be eternally grateful as I would like to do this once the weather warms up. Its getting annoying to hold trac control for 5 seconds every time I start my truck. FYI - I know one could purchase a tuner to disable this feature, but with payments still due, I cannot afford to go that route yet.
