Default Low Profile Weatherguard Toolbox Installed, Pics

I decided when I bought my truck, based on input from various forum members and others, that I should buy a Weatherguard toolbox because supposedly those are the best brand to get. While they are a lot more expensive than other brands and although I won't be keeping thousands of dollars worth of tools in there, I did want to spend the time/effort/money to get the best for my truck because I do plan on keeping it for a long time.

When I was shopping for a Weatherguard toolbox, I ran into some problems about which models would fit my 2010 Screw 5.5 ft bed truck. Half the shops, and half the time I called Weatherguard headquarters, I was told that the low profile saddle box wouldn't fit my truck, and the other half of the time I was told it would. One guy at a local shop even told me that he had just installed a low profile one on a new F150 work truck and it wouldn't fit so they had to put some wooden cribbing underneath it on the rails until it was high enough to clear. I imagine he was just lying to cover his own butt since he told me he had the toolbox in stock and when I actually went up there to get it, it was nowhere to be found. I posted a thread on here asking if anybody knew if it would fit and only had minimal success so in case anybody is interested in getting one I decided to post a new thread with the actual answer. Eventually I got a hold of a supervisor at Weatherguard who then checked with one of the tech guys and another guy to state positively that the low profile would fit my truck.

I called around to several local shops to get price quotes and one of the two local Fastenals offered the lowest price and fastest delivery time (whereas the other local Fastenal offered the highest price and slowest delivery time, still don't understand that). So, I ordered a silver low-profile toolbox. But then I started second-guessing myself on whether I should have ordered the black one. Called up the Fastenal, and they also got a black one shipped, too, so that I could take a look at both and choose. When they came in, I went done to the store and looked at them. I thought the silver one would look best with my truck, but unfortunately, it had a mechanical problem, so they had to order another one. Shortly, after leaving the store, I went back and inquired on whether they could also ship the regular standard silver one also because I figured the low-profile toolbox would have sat a little deeper and had a little more room. They did just that. So, today they both came in and after much debating, I stuck with the silver low-profile one. The guys at the Fastenal I dealt with were extremely nice and helpful. Also, a local shop called The Truck Stop installed my toolbox for free. All in all, it took a lot of time/effort/money to get this toolbox, but I'm very happy with it. So, in case anybody is interested in getting one for their truck, here are some pictures. Oh, and by the way, the standard full size box also fits easily.

After seeing how much extra space there is, I still don't know why it was such a big deal for people to know that it would fit my truck. I mean it's not even close to not fitting but oh well.

Thanks for the compliments guys

T-Rex: I didn't weigh it, but the Weatherguard website says it weighs 80 lbs.

I suppose I should have looked it up myself, but thanks. It looks good. I won't need to carry my tools around with me all the time, so I can't really justify the purchase. I will probably just put a secure cover over the bed, like a bakflip.

I am picking one up tomorrow except in black. How did you anchor it down? Did you use the supplied hardware or drill into the bedrails.

Congrats. Feel free to post up a pic when you get it. Nope, no drilling. It comes with all the hardware
