I just ordered a 2012 Platinum (White) SCrew with a 6.5' bed. I am wanting to put a tool box on the truck to put my odds and ends in so that the stuff doesn't end up on the rear seat or floorboard. I have searched several post for pictures of trucks and there are very very few with tool boxes. What are you guys doing for storage if you don't have a tool box, Tonneau Cover??? I am asking for ideas, opinions, options, etc... Also if you have a SCrew with a tool box would you please post the picture? Thanks for your time and ideas. Have a Blessed Day!!

I just put in a Delta Champion low profile crossover tool box in mine.
Goole Delta toolbox and go to their site for ideas. Lots of other brands also, this was cheap, quick and easy plus did what I wanted without sticking out past the sides of the cab catching wind or blocking rear window view.

Look at it this way (IMO)

With the 6.5 bed you aren't going to give up much bed space. And the thing about covers is that stuff can and will slide around. Not to mention in some cases you'd have to climb up into the bed to retrieve some items. With a toolbox it's right there and within arms reach most of the time.

I keep odds and ends in mine. Tools, car care stuff, etc. And when we go on a trip with the dogs I put our luggage in the toolbox and the dogs in the back seat.

I currently have a UWS but I want to change over to a Cam-Locker soon.

I stashed a lot of my stuff behind the rear seats after I figured out how to fold them down. Tie downs and tools that I use on a regular basis were put in tool bags that went under the rear seat. I have a Truck Trunk toolbox (they don't make those anymore) that I had on my silverado that I may install someday. No drilling required and its easy to swap out if needed. I also have a Extang trifecta bed cover that I use.

I have a BakFlip HD folding tonneau. When I was having it installed, there was another truck at the accessory store with one as well. The gentleman who owned it had those huge Rubbermaid Roughneck totes with gear in them. I thought that was a novel idea. His stuff was locked uder the tonneau, plus he could reposition his totes wherever he wanted to as the situation warranted. He could take both out as they are not permanently attached, and you could mix and match seasonal gear. EG: a winter kit that you could take out in spring and place in your garage for storage during the summer, possibly a towing kit, summer accessory kit and the list could go on! I may do this myself!

I like the looks of the Tonneau covers and with a tool chest or something like a Heavy duty rubbermaid container you would get the best of both worlds.

I do this. I have a Truxedo tonneau and a big rubbermaid container with my straps, air pump, flares, tools etc that is held in place by my bed extender. I do really want a tool box and just can't give up my tonneau for the times when I need top cover for stuff and a tarp just won't do.

Check out the undercover swing case toolboxes. They mount to side of bed, are in shape of wheel well and stick out no further, pull a lever and they swing out, and very easy to take them out of u need the space. Not big by any means, but good for lots of little things. I just installed one in my truck. Will try and get u some pics when I get off work.
