That's interesting, especially with the 8' bed. I would never buy one expecting better MPG either. I get them to protect the stuff I carry. I've had them on older Rangers and a Sport Trac and I did gain up to 2 MPG on each. It could be due to all of them being dogs to begin with though, due to the relatively smaller engines vs the truck weight. Especially the Sport trac.

There are several reputable tests that have been none on this. The majority of them show a small increase in mileage. I have been using ARE covers since 1994 on about 8 different trucks....not for mileage but for security reasons. The covers are almost always on. If I have them off it's usually to haul something that is large. I have tried to compare mileage with and without a few times and have always thought there was a small increase, but certainly not enough to buy one simply for mileage. I need the security and like the look.

Depends on the covers. I have seen Undercover covers that weigh only 50lbs. Doubt 50lbs is going to make a difference in mpg.

Also what kind would you suggest for a 6.5ft bed? I like the ones that come apart in solid pieces (not big on the fabric covers).

Sorry if this topic has already been covered in this section, I wasn't able to find it.
It didnt change a thing as far as MPG is concerned.
It did however give me a lot of peace of mind when needing to run into a store quick while I have valuables in the box.
Not one thing as been stolen out of the box since I put my cover on.

I would guess that one of these would be most fuel efficient.

My Wife said it looks like a Mustang and a F150 had a baby.
