TKO's Custom Ipad dash mount..

I'm curious as to how you're handling the iPad getting hot when the truck is sitting in a parking lot. My iPad dash mount has been fine up until the summer weather began down here, now it takes 2-5 minutes of full AC blasting on my iPad to not show the temperature warning when I leave work at the end of the day. Mine is a iPad 2 if it matters.

I had the same issue with my android install. The only thing that I think will make a big/effective difference is tinting the windshield. I think heat rejection tint exists with very little "tint" like 90-70%.

So my wife just bought and iPad Air, and I have an idea of what I would want, but I think for production and parts would be too restrictive. Here it goes:
- I have a 2010 so I need my old radio. Therefore I was thinking maybe recess the radio unit like mentioned before.
-Instead of having a flush mounted iPad with the plastic cover, what if you had a mount that looked kind of like the Ram mounts, but you would click to lock it in and click to unlock it. When you unlocked it, it would telescope out enough to reach the radio controls as well as swivel left and right enough to utilize the camera with either driver or passenger (for face time or whatever).

No not really. This is all in my head. Hard to articulate into words. I talking about having the normal radio controls recessed about 3-4 inches from where they are for the stock location, then mounting a fixture that would hold the iPad in front of that. Then the iPad would sit flush with the bezel until you wanted to either take it out or swivel it left or right. Does that help any? When I get out of Pakistan and back to my truck I will try to rig up something. But in the meantime, do you think it is possible to recess the stock radio components from their existing components?
