Default Tire Question

I've got a 2010 Lariat SCrew with the max tow and 7675# GVWR package. I've got the 7 lug wheels and yet I have "P" 275/65/18 tires! They couldn't put truck tires (LT) on a truck that was built to haul and tow!

Sounds like the previous owner changed them out.I think from the factory all of those did come with 10ply LT tires.

I bought the truck new, they are the original tires.....P275/65/R18 Goodyear SRA. I would like to ask the manufacturer whose idea it was to put little ribs on the sidewalls.........just dumb!

Ford does that so the ride is smoother and also to help with mpg. It drives me nuts too. I find that my "maxtow" is a little loose when towing. Some LTs sure would help. Also, whats with the purely street tires with the offroad and FX4 pkgs?

Idk but max tow is for towing more weight not payload weight. If you get heavy duty payload package it comes with 17 LT tires.

Isn't the 7675# GVWR the "heavy duty payload" package?

You'd think they learned after the Exploder Firestone issue, but people like to have a car like ride in their truck/SUV. I went to P's on my last F150 more for cost savings and because it was almost all highway use, they wear faster and it was about a wash after all was said and done. Don't think I'll go lower tan LT D's ever again.

The 7 lug wheels mean max payload.

Look what's posted in your doorjam - if it says "p" then you can safely use them. You can always upgrade to Lt but you can't downgrade if it says Lt in door. JMO ( I work at a GY)
