Default Time for new tires/shocks

2010 Ford F-150 Lariat 4wd, about 103k miles.

I currently have Nitto Terragrappler 275/55-20's. I hate them. Not only did my tread wear down quick, they look fruity without a lift/leveling kit. But since I have 20" wheels, options are limited.

Since I need new shocks I am thinking about going with the Bilstein 5100's for the front and some kind of 275/60-20 tire (or maybe 65?). Something like a BFG or Goodyear A/T tire. Will implementing the 2" lift on the Bilstein shocks accommodate this size of tire?

Any suggestions on other configurations? Also, I assume I need to find a place to have everything installed at once. I called NTB but they don't do Bilstein's so I guess I can check out local mechanics in the DFW area.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

275/60/20 will fit without a level.
1.5-2" will certainly clear 275/65/20 with no issues (some even report them fitting on stock trucks). Bilstein's are a good option. The offerings from Alex F150Lifts.com are even better...meaning their Eibach spring'd Bilsteins or better yet their BOSS lineup.

As for tires...Cooper, Michelin, Toyo, Nitto. BFG. They're all apples to apples for the most part.

I have a 2010 XLT 2WD.

Michelin LTX A/T 2 275/65/20

Bilsteins 5100 set on the notch just above stock.

No rubbing. Had to get alignment though.

You should have no trouble with this set up...esp with 4WD

Bilstein 5100's set at the 2nd notch from the top...gained 1-1/2 inches of height. Toyo P275x60x20 AT2's. Plenty of room for taller but I wanted a tire that is lightweight and still has decent traction and looks.

Looks great, thanks all. now I just gotta figure out if I want 60's or 65's and how to get em installed. Man, tires are expensive.

Tell me about it. Just re-shod mine with Cooper Discoverer AT/3 at $900.

second vote for calling Alex at F150Lifts. he has everything, 5100s, coilovers, level spacers and can discuss pros and cons for them all.

MCDavis and I are both patrial to the BOSS coilovers, and for good reason, but the 5100s are cheaper indeed but will cost more for installation and not be as good a ride. Lots of options.

Regarding the tires, also consider 305/55-20, especially if you do consider the extra lift a coilover can supply. gives you alternate tires to try. I went with the Toyo At2 Extremes, Lots of people love the Duratrac but at a higher cost, or Trail grapplers if you just want something super aggressive. If I had found a good enough deal I would have gone with the EXO grappler myself, but the At2 was unbeatable cost wise for me.

Thanks guys! Hello jaymz, if you feel like talking over all your options I would gladly take the time to answer your questions. From Bilstein, to Fox, to Boss, to spacers, whatever you decide works best for you, we have it all in stock and everything ships the same day or the following day you place an order.
