Default Dealer says leaf spring clunk is normal..any recourse ?

On my 2013 SCAB with 62k miles I have the rear leaf spring popping and clunking especially while backing up over bumps. If I put some lube on them it goes away but that doesn't last and isn't recommended. I took it into the local dealer and they said the spacers and pads are all ok and that this is normal for a truck of this age and miles. I don't really agree and think maybe they are wanting to avoid replacing them under my ESP.

Is this normal, do I have any other recourse with Ford

Yes, it is absolutely normal for a dealer to tell you nothing is wrong.

Are you sure everything is torqued properly? I would guess the noise isn't normal. I have none at 99k.

By chance did you add a sway bar?

No sway bar added and all the bolts and mounts are tight. Is there a contact for a Ford rep or should I try another dealer first?

The Ford reps have left the forum. You can find their corporate customer service number if you want to try that route. That's all the reps here did, anyway.

My 2008 with 122k makes absolutely no noise from the rear leaf springs. So yours definitely shouldn’t.

We have an 08 at my work with 215k. That ones doesn’t even have any noise either.

Why did you ask that question? I am having a Hellwig adjustable sway bar installed on my truck this coming Friday. Is there an issue?

I chatted online with the Ford ppl, they supposedly escalated it with the service manager for review. I do not think that will do any good as they will just deny it again. I am going to call a different dealer and see if I get any satisfaction.

My 2011 F150 XLT S.Crew 5.0 4WD with over 77k miles doesn’t make leaf spring noises either. Although, a bout of center carrier bearing failures seem to be going around with the responses to my post. I’m waiting on a new rear drive shaft to show up to my door.
