Thinking of leaving Chevy and getting a f150

I think it's a great idea to do research ahead of time - just realizing you're getting the outliers - forums like this include the complainers and zealots, and 95% of the owners never come here.
Spend a good deal of time reading the TOWING section of the forum. Many tow unsafely, brag about the load they have/had, and are too lazy to do the math and tow safely - risking their lives, the lives of their family members, and of those on the road with them. What you can PULL is not the same as the PAYLOAD you can support. Read about PAYLOAD, and understand that the majority of F-150s have 1,200 - 1,500 lb payloads, and therefore towing something like 10,000 pounds is UNSAFE.
The amount of people that spend $50k on a truck and another huge bundle on a trailer without doing research prior astonishes me.

I've had my 2012 fx4 5.0 for a few weeks now, and I love it! Only thing I've towed so far is a jet ski, but I can't wait to put the boat behind it. I probably would tow up to about 9-10k pounds but after that I think a 3/4 ton is needed. Get the 5.0 and never look back!
