5.0 real world MPGs

5.0 real world MPGs
I would like to hear from someone who has owned both the 5.4 and now the 5.0. I am interested if the 5.0 reallys gets that much better mileage.
I also want to see real numbers not the ones the computer puts on the dash. Include what size tires you are running if you have upgraded and if it has a leveling kit or not.
I am trying to decide if it is worth the the money to buy a 2011 or save some bucks and get a 2010. The blonde wood in the Lariat is a big turn off for me. I just dont like it at all. So much so I will nto buy one even if I have to go to the FX4 or up to the Platinum.

This won't be much help likely but I'll throw it out there.
My wife has the 5.4 and gets about 13-14 in the city. My HEMI got 12.5. Thus far, on my 5.0L, I am getting 13.0 in the city with about 250 miles on the truck. I know once properly broken in that number will go up.
Funny you mention the blonde wood - that was a factor in my decision to go with the tan interior.

I had a 2001 5.4 and it would get about 16 on the highway, and my 5.0 is getting just under 18 on the highway driving 75-80. The best I've done was 20.5 when I kept it at 65. I get a lot better economy with the ethanol free gas. My mpgs started going up after I got over 5k miles.

For what it's worth my 2010 Platinum 5.4 with 3.55 rear is getting between 16.5 - 17 mpg around town and 20-21 mpg on the freeway doing 65-70 mph. These figures are hand calculated.

Well for you Americans. I'm averaging 17-20mpg highway and city mix. Finally past 10000km after two months. First oil change done let's see if it gets any better. I doubt it though.

This is what I am interested in... You can save thousands on a 2010 with the 5.4 right now. The 5.0 would have to get a LOT better fuel mileage to make it a better choice. I could care less about 60HP... I am not racing the truck... only driving it everyday and maybe pulling a boat or utility trailer every now and then.
I drive around 20k miles a year...
If the 5.4 will average 14mpg @ $3.00 per gallon I will spend $4,285.00 per year in fuel. If the 5.0 averages 17mpg I will spend $3,529.00 per year or a difference of $756.00. It would take over 6-1/2 years of buying more gas to equal what the 2011 model with the 5.0 costs. The truck would then have 130000 miles on it. More than likely I would have traded it already anyway. So unless omeone can WOW me with real world numbers for the 5.0 I am going to look for a left over 2010.
