Could someone please break down the differences between the ranches and billsteins? Besides the billsteins use the stock coils. Opinions on which is better and why?

Much appreciated.

Are these an acceptable replacement for a max tow FX4 that actually goes off road and tows a lot? I was looking at just regular shocks but would maybe like to adjust the front height up just a bit...not level it as I tow a lot.

The Bilsteins have one setting, stiff, which many like. And monotube.

The Ranchos are adjustable, and dual tube.

There are pros and cons to both.

Both are very reputable, but there have been several guys report the Bilsteins breaking at the weld. Just do a quick search.

No reports of Ranchos failing.

I'm torn. I really want a 4" lift as well as new tires and wheels, but in reality it will be a long time before I can afford that much. I could get out of stock, raise it a bit to suit my needs as my truck is my daily driver and weekend warrior, but not heavy off-road use, and get the tires/wheels in a shorter time. And Tap has really good prices on the ranches right now. Especially if you couple it with the Rancho Shocktober rebate.

Having anew baby really takes up my fun money lol.

I feel your pain. We had $6,000 of work done on our tile roof just a couple months ago, because a few tiles were broken turned into needing to recap the entire roof...

I was just starting to plan out my level etc, again, and wham, Saturday we got our first heavy rain since the repair and it still leaks in the same place. Looks like my Chimney is getting reflashed... Won't have the estimate until next week, but not looking forward to it.
That means the level and bigger tires get put on hold yet again. With a house and kids, there are always unexpected expenses, just way too often.
