Had my share of Nissan Garbage, 2004 Titan and 2005 Pathfinder (2000 Xterra was good though). That's why I drive Ford's now.

Had a 2010 F150 Screw 4WD 5.5' bed with 5.4L and 3.55LS.

Paint and body did good for about 2 years and 34,000 miles. The transmission was garbage (Ford could never get it working correctly) and had shock, body mount, control arm problems. Those were fixed but not sure if was 100%. Transmission never did get fixed. Sick of the problems so trade to a 2012 Screw 4WD 5.5' with 5.0L and 3.73 locker.

The 2012 had a lot of minor but irritating issue and 1 major problem. The torque converter was going out so that was replaced.

I really like my truck. It's pretty reliable other than Torque converter which was bad from delivery.

Love the 5.0L low end power (and high end) and the trucks can do attitude. Pulls my trailer easily.

I will not buy a first year aluminum on steel built truck, CORROSION!! In fact I may not buy any for the first 5 years.

If I buy another 1/2 ton, it'll likely be a Tundra (maybe a Silverado 5.3L if I can talk myself into a GM product). BUT I'll likely end up with a 3/4 ton Ram 2500 Crew Cab w/6.4L Hemi .

Drove a 6.2L F250 and wasn't impressed, especially for the bad mileage those trucks get. Definitely not a fan of diesel now that Urea Injection is required.

if it matters to you, Chevy's / GMC's crew cabs are made in Mexico. Only their regular cabs are made here, and Dodge's half tons are made here, while the rest are made in Mexico.

Charging similar prices for trucks, while using FAR FAR FAR cheaper labor. I'd much rather keep an American employed than anyone anywhere else. Ford is American Owned, and American Built. (owned/headquartered, can't quite control who owns shares)

Thought the Mexican labor was now UAW UNION to get a fair wage. Maybe their Union rates are much lower but better than no Union.

It is UAW, but fair wages down there are certainly lower than fair wages up here, and I'd much rather keep an American employed.

I'm the guy who bases selections heavily based on country of origin. American jobs are very important to me. I'll spend more and sleep well knowing that I'm doing my small, miniscule part in helping out fellow Americans.

I'm sure the trucks are built just as well (except the Ford is leaps and bounds ahead, of course), but Country of Origin is a deciding factor for me.

We have 2011 F150 reg cab long beds in our fleet at work with white paint and they are all showing the peeling of the paint in the bed as well. One of our Ford loyal coworkers seems to think they were primered and left outside and some kind of acid rain is affecting the underside of the paint. Something about the beds being shipped to the manufacturing assembly plants with just primer on them.......

I'm not expert on this, or if this is even possible. Just citing a theory.

Kept my 2005 fx4 for 9 years. Longest I've ever kept a truck. Loved that ride. I thought I would miss it when I bought my 13 fx4 5.0.
Not a chance, so much better all around. Just the 5.0 vs that 5.4 was worth it alone.
I'll let the new design work out the bugs, and be ready in 2017 for hopefully another great truck.
Also, I never used anything on my trim, till the last year or so.
They looked great until I started putting product on them. Then they turned to ****.
The only thing I would use now is collinite, but I still want to see what effect it has on the plastic after 3 years.

Back in the 80's I swore I would never buy another Ford again. 2010 comes along and I'm in the market for a truck. Just about every review I read praised the F150 and was the best in it's class for towing. Against my stubborn will, I broke down and bought a F150. That was 4 years ago and I still have it. The only thing that I can gripe about is the faded "Flex/Fuel" emblem on the tail gate and some slight rusting on my chromed tow hooks. The truck just works and is great to drive. I have never waxed my truck and the finish still looks great.

Had my new 99' F150 4x2 Lariat Flareside 5.4L for 15yrs and 92k miles on it without a major problem. A few coil on plug replacements on #3 & #4 cylinders and that was about it. My brother in law bought it knowing how well I maintained it all those years.

Now my new 2014 F150 Platinum Eco 4x2 is so much nicer with 15yrs of Ford improvements/innovations it's a pleasure driving it every time I get in it.

Looked at all the other makes/models and test drove them also.
When I got in the Platinum I knew this was the one.
Good Luck

Thanks for all of the reply's.

I'm not really a brand loyal person, although my ford treated me good other than the paint issue.

Use of the new pick-up will be hauling dirtbikes and snowbikes, or camping, wood getting... pick-up stuff. I only drive a pick-up when needed, we have two other rigs that are much better for running around and commuting in. At least 50% of that will be pulling my 6x12' enclosed trailer. It's small is loaded with cabinets, batteries, generator, etc., so it's pretty heavy. My 5.4 really wouldn't pull it in overdrive, it had to be in 3rd gear 90% of the time. That's why I'm leaning towards the ecoboost.

There is a local dealer that offers "warranty forever" they just happen to have a 2011 lariat ecoboost with 20K.
