Default Talk me into a new Ford

Selling my 2005 FX4 Supercrew today. Overall, it was a good rig for me, but I had a few issue with it and I'm wondering if the 09-14 have the same problems.

Some of my biggest complaints:

-Plastic FX4 flares faded badly after a few years. They look horrible unless I treat them with something to make them look black/grey again. Bed rail caps and front cowling also faded to light grey and look like crap.

-PTM bumpers. Rusting like crazy front and rear. I'll get chrome bumpers with the next one.

-Paint peeling. I've had trouble with paint flaking off in somewhat hidden areas. Under the rear window, just under the hood, etc. Places where there is little to no clear coat.

This started happening at around 50K. Pick-up sits out side, but doesn't get used much. I'm pretty **** about keeping it clean and waxed too.

So - do the newer Fords still have issues with these problems? Looking at a Ecoboost Lariet, but a little worried about the ecoboost motor.

All this could have been prevented with proper maintenance; apply a coat of either Collonite 845 or Meguiars Ultimate Liquid Wax once every 2 months to keep your paint and trim looking good.

Only cosmetic issue I have so far with my '14 is the ptm bumper has collected a lot of chips from debris/bugs on the road.

Ford makes an amazing truck, I've owned four trucks, three of them Ford and the other a Dodge Ram. My 2014 STX Sport SCab 4x4 is amazing, but time will tell if she holds up being outdoors 24/7 in the Midwest. I've owned her since August 23rd, I've waxed her with Collinite #845 twice, I've wazed every inch of her that is Tuxedo Black. The plastic parts, I can only keep them clean and treated with the products that are available right now.

Here are the types of areas of paint peeling that I'm talking about. I'd have a really hard time waxing that. I waxed the rest of it a few times a year.

You can apply Collonite 845 wax to every exertior part of the truck except for the tires. I use it on paint, windshield, and trim. It doesn't stain the trim like paste waxes do.

I'll definitely look into that wax. The problem with what's pictured is just that it isn't possible to actually touch (or wax) the area that's peeling (without removing the fender).

I haven't had any issues like that on my white 2010. The paint ford uses looks great on the newer trucks and is durable, when my ptm from bumper goes on the back will be rhino lined, it's just primer from ford and isn't sealed properly-

I personally wouldn't try and talk anyone into getting an F150. I like most trucks - Ram 1500 Longhorn/Laramie, GMC Sierra/Silverado and the F150.

Loved the looks of the 2015 Denali pickup until I parked my 2012 Platinum next to one.

So glad I was getting into my Ford.

Chevys new truck is still old
