Just received a letter in the mail from Ford of Canada stating my sync warranty has been extended two years from the factory 3 year warranty for a total of 5 years from date of purchase. Unlimited km.

What does everyone think of this? Is it possible they are preparing to take care of older trucks for when the new system comes in?

I got a similar letter here in Texas. Owned the truck for 6 months. I think they are just taking care of everyone.

Maybe Ford is aware of a looming problem that could hit us Sync owners on down the road. My wife and I bought a 2009 Altima 5 years ago, and shortly after purcashing it we received a letter similar to this stating that the CVT transmission warranty would be extended to 100k miles. Well sure enough at 50k miles the transmission went out, and was replaced under warranty. I think they were aware of a problem with the CVT transmission, and extended the warranty.

My wife got one for her 2013 Explorer. I have not received one for my 2014 F150.

I've not received anything on my '14 either.
