Sync updates
I was told by Ford that my truck needed to have an update done on my Sync system. The net shows the truck is updated and in good standing but Ford says other. They want my truck for half a day
I asked why so long to do a five minute task no one answered me. Does this sound strange to anyone else?
Truck is still under warranty, but I live 40 minutes from the dealership and they have no courtesy shuttle that travels that far.

A clean usb stick and setting up an account on syncmyride.com and you can do this yourself. Looks like it's at http://support.ford.com/media/syncmyride/intercept.html
Get an account, add your vehicle vin, then check for updates and it'll give you the instructions on how to do it.

Go with what they say. Mine needed an update but was ok according to the online site. It took a couple hours for mine to be done. It's not a quick update.

Yes it's that simple but sync my ride seems to be behind in their updates.

I wish I could update on my own but I am told I have a dealer installed update available with no options to download myself. Checked with the dealer and they wanted $ to do it. Ticks me off, let me download the update and put it on a USB flash drive and let me do it myself.

Gwpfan is correct. I just did the update today on my 2013 Ford Fusion. If you go to your account like he said, it tells you whether or not updates are available. If so, download to USB stick and install yourself. Very simple.

It's not as simple as a usb update, it's more like flashing the bios of a computer, doesn't take very long, about 10 mins but other people have their vehicles inline for service so you get into a que.
