Default Sync iPhone 5 and receiving text

Sync iPhone 5 and receiving text., No I can't do it. I went to the sync forum and they gave me some tips but none work. I would think with all the newest technology it would work. On my 2009 and sync my Droid worked fine but not my iPhone.

I sure was hoping that the 2013 would work. errrrr anyone else having issues or has it working?

I'm pretty sure it is not supported by the iPhone. The Bluetooth connection protocol has many "profiles"...there a separate profile for connecting the phone (so you can make calls), one for controlling the music and a separate one for playing the music....there is a also a BT profile for text messages (defined by the BT folks), but Apple doesn't support it.

Read up on it... Said talk to text only good through Siri on system.. Have to ask Siri to read them back and make text through system... This is done by holding down home button on phone then talking through system....

I did some digging around in the Apple support pages, here's a link to the officially supported BT profiles for IOS -

http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3647

The Message Access Profile (MAP) *is* supported by the IP 4/5.

I will play around with some today and see if I can figure out what's up with it.

On a related note, you can get your iPhone to read text (any text you can highlight) to you by doing this:

Settings
General
Accessibility
Speak Selection
ON, choose your dialect, speed, etc.

At this point, any text you can highlight, will also have a "Speak" option. Selecting "Speak" after highlighting, reads the text to you. Handy for when you don't have a pair of glasses nearby (if you are an old geezer, like me...).

It works on some MFT and Sync systems, but some of them are bugged and not working. I'm pestering my dealer for a new Sync module but they don't seem to want to budge.

Texts work perfect in our Explorer, and Focus with iPhone 5 but no go in my F-150
