I have a 09 f-150 5.4 truck has 202000 miles at 178000 a lifter started ticking so I decided to have the ford dealer install a brand new motor 6800.00 now I have 3- year warranty unlimited miles. I average about 800 miles a week lots of start and stops the truck has been perfect up to 200000 miles sometimes it wont start if you wait a minute then it will start but not every time. just today it took 3 hours to get started I would try it every 20min. then after 3 hours it started once its running its perfect. I have took it back to the ford dealer they said I needed a throttle body so they put one on still truck want start sometimes so took it back this time they send a e-mail to ford. ford said I needed a new fuel pump so they put a new one on. still truck want start sometimes now the ford dealer is baffling they don't what to do but it is going back to then in the morning. this is getting expensive I have also put a new starter on just 3 weeks ago. I have also been using the same key since new so now I am using my spare key truck still want start sometimes also the check engine light never comes on. I also have new cats on the truck. I am a car guy I maintenance this truck all the time always checking and listening. I also like my truck clean every 3-4 months I stop at the car wash and spray under the hood I hope the water is not the problem. anyway I am at a lost what to do. if anybody can help I thank you

Same EXACT problem my man. 09 5.4 52xxx miles that ive babied since new. Randomly wont start. Sometimes for minutes, others for days at a time. Im out of warranty so my personal mechanic is at a loss. Nobody knows why and now i have to consider trading it in bc its unreliable. Super frustrating. If u find a fix, please pm me. Ill do the same

First place I'd check is the fuel pump relay. They are noted for rusting out and causing intermittent starting issues. It's a very easy part to replace and can be had for 35 to 50 bucks based on where you buy it. You have to drop down the spare tire to get at it but it's real easy. You can usually tell it's bad simply buy look at it because they rust through and let moisture inside…………
