Hard shifts when cold
I was just wondering if anyone has experienced this and what the remedy was. My 2011 eco just started shifting hard before its warmed up. Temps here have been anywhere from 0 to 25 degrees and the hard shifts have been 1-2 and 3-4 . the strange thing is that this just started 2 or 3 weeks ago. I have had the transmission updated a few months ago for a hard 1-2 shift coasting. I drive alot for work and want to make sure its nothing major before my 60 k warranty is up. Thanks

my 12 has been shifting harder to, but to clarify, its not like a bang or jerk, just not smoothly moving between gears. I'm sure the cold has allot to do with it, I park my truck outside and cold transmission fluid means higher rpm shift points. My commuter car which parks in the garage acts the same way until its up to temp. although I drove a 13 ecoboost today with 4k miles on it, and WOW, it shifted like butter at very low RPMs, but it had been sitting in the sun at 50 degrees all afternoon so who knows. Before your warranty is out, I'd recommend taking it to the dealer for a fluid exchange just to make sure you're running on nice fresh fluid. You'll have to pay for the service, but its difficult to do on your own and will give you some good peace of mind going into the great unknown beyond known as "out of warranty".

My new to me 2011 will do the same when it is really cold. Only the first couple of shifts though. But they will be very hard, usually the 1-2 or 2-3. After those first shifts it's perfect all day long.
I also have an issue where the gridlines in the rearview cam will go missing sometimes too.
I'm wondering if the battery is on it's way out. The one in my Taurus lasted 3.5 years and near the end it was doing some weird things too. A new battery fixed it up.
Either way I'm going to say something next time it's at the dealer.
