Forget about it. The Frankenstein look would greatly outweigh the few pennies you MIGHT save in gas.

Don't stop with the bed, swap out the whole truck with 2015 parts. It'll cost a ton but you'll save 1-2 MPG!

Lol. Indeed truck swapping. Heard it's all the rage.
Anyways, if it could be done for a grand and it lined up ok I would consider it.

According to Ford the weight difference for the entire truck is only 732 lbs or so. Just the bed probably wouldn't be worth the time and effort. The 2.7L motor is only 25 lbs lighter than the 5.0. You could drive yourself crazy trying to option out your truck to have the lightest components possible.
For me.... I'll lose 10 pounds and drive around with half a tank of gas to save weight.

Or about 1/7th of the weight of the entire truck. Pretty significant.

Trade for a 2015, but don't trade beds.
