I keep two USGI Bivi sacs, fleece blankets, boots, wool socks, BDU's, Nomex jacket, and some MRE's back there. There is a surprising amount of room.

I didn't want to mess with drilling a small hole in it as the newer models do not have that lip that your cord will catch on, as it is smooth. What I did is ran a thin plastic coated wire through on the other side and left it there. I just have to reach down a little to grab it with my finger to pull. Ha! I had no idea that thread existed. Someone should sticky this stuff because I could have saved a bunch of time, and I'm sure I'm not the only one. I like how that person attached the line to the head rest-- out of sight out of mind.
