I bought my '09 XLT in July. The dealer (all dealers I guess) was offering big rebates on XLTs, so I went with what they had on the lot. I originally wanted console shift, not column, and really, really wanted a crew cab. But of course XLT doesn't come with anything but shift on the column and the dealer had nothing on the lot but Supercabs.

Last week, a friend of mine picked up an XLT crew cab. To be honest, looking at the trucks next to each other, I now sort of prefer the Supercab. The Supercab with 6.5' bed seems better proportioned than the SCrew with 5.5' bed. Of course, mine also came with 18" rims vs. the 17's on the SCrew ride, and there are other differences.... I've also gotten used to the column shift.

First: That's a nice looking truck. Congats.

Second: SCab or SCrew is a matter of needs and preference IMO. The SCab you own has a larger bed and the SCrew your friend owns has a larger back seat. If you have a large family or pick your adult friends most of the time the the larger back seat comes handy. But if you use the bad more often then the 6.5 foot long bed makes a difference.

For the floor shifter VS the column shifter, again each has an advantage. The Column shifter clears the center area for you to utilize whereas the floor shifter looks nicer (IMO) and may feel more comfy for some truck drivers.

ANyhow, I am glad you started liking your nice truck. Enjoy it man it rides great on those wheels.

I prefer the super cab rather than the crew. I almost never have to carry more than one passenger. I do however, need more bed space for drywall and lumber. So I'm picking up a 4x4, super cab, 6 foot bed in 3 days.

you have the exact same truck as me, and I love it. You won't be disappointed in getting a supercab

If you have kids in carseats, the supercrew is a big plus.

i prefer the scab. people are less likely to ask you to drive on long trips because they dont want to ride in tha back seat. whereas ive had a crew and i was always the one asked to drive. haha plus i like the longer bed also.

Well, if you need the 6.5' bed, the Screw has it. Then you have the best of both worlds, the larger rear seat and 6.5' bed.

I've found the 5.5' bed fits my needs the majority of the time (99%), so no need for the 6.5' for me.

Next, I have the Screw with 5.5' bed and I understand exactly what you are speaking to. If I were single and/or did not have children, then I, too, would be in a Scab with the 6.5' bed .

I also agree with you that if you are going with the 6.5 bed, the Scab is the "better porportioned" vehicle; although, I feel that with the Screw, the 5.5 bed retains a good sense of proportion too.

Everything in this regard is about 'balance'. One must balance absolute needs and what is practical with one wishes for and also with what is available.

Again, the same with the shifter, the floor version is cool, but the one on the wheel, is out of the way and allows for the 60/40 split bench seat, which has a fold down console, but also allows for an extra passenger, if needed. And similar to you, I went with the XLT, due to the huge factory cash-back incentives they were having up in my end of the state, in May/June.

Of interest to me is the fact that you mention your dealer had a lot of Scabs and few Screws. In my region, the lot was loaded with 90% Screws and only a few Scabs and even fewer Rcabs. Most buyers in my area seen to prefer and the Screw, as it allows more flexibility for familes.

In the end, I absolutely love my truck, how it rides, drives, and the better MPG than with my 2004 F250 Screw, I traded in for the new ride. Moreover, they even had a factory 'freebie' Chrome Package thrown into the deal, so I did get those 18" wheels and some other nice chrome trim as well.
