Default STX upgrade Questions....version: noob.0

I see that I can swap in the ‘11+ XLT cluster and steering wheel control buttons, but what about the entire leather steering wheel. The STX wheel sucks, has molding flash on the back that feels like someone left a dried booger on it. Dealer says its normal, still bothers me after taking an emery board to it.
Does the air bag come off pretty much the same as other models, pull the trim back, unscrew it, un plug it? Need a special puller for the wheel?

anything else I should do while I'm there? Does the Raptor cluster work as well since the plug is the same or does the 6.2 to 5.0 throw it off?

I guess we'll find out soon enough.
Bought a raptor cluster and leather wheel, hope to do the swap this weekend. Should bring the truck into the 21st century if it works.

Take pictures. I've been wanting a leather wheel in my STX.

Haven't done the wheel yet but the good news is the raptor cluster is a direct plug in. Tach works, speedo works, takes about 15 mins to put in in the dark...

Nice. How are you a help otherwise, unless it's poor grammar and proofing? I was actually surprised that I.C's could be changed out so easily. Regardless, I can see problems happening if the motors are different and have redlines which don't match, and sensors set to different tolerances.

There are plenty people that have. Very simple, plug and play, just need to find a cluster with like mileage and replace the left switches on the steering wheel.

My buddy ExtremeFord4X4 just swapped to a FX4 cluster on his 4X4 STX.

Hey man. When you bought your cluster I'm going to guess that the clear cluster 'window' was already attached.
I'm only asking because the socially challenged guy who prepped mine, when I bought it new... lightly scratched it.
It's absolutely nothing anyone else would notice, but me.
I only notice it on from the side. anyways I looked quickly on a few sights, and didn't find it without the whole cluster attached.
Anyone replace theirs? I took my cluster out in my 05, and I seem to remember it being on there pretty good.
Not a big deal, just curious.
Thanks, also I'm glad for you, that it fired up without any glitches.
