I was tired of the smell before, but at least in the summer time the smell would only hang around for a few seconds then nothing, not so much now, now its constant and I've had enough of it.
Yeah, the smell became constant on mine too now that we're getting closer to winter. Well, now it's a constant smell of the deodorizer instead...hoping that wears away soon so I can bring it back in.

Mine was made in Dearborn and the evap leaked like a sieve.

We'll at least we proved at least one truck from each plant required evap to be changed out.

Every vehicle I've ever had has had one problem or another, or multiple. I've become resigned to it.
I hear what your saying about advancements, I get that part, but we're talking about a part that's been produced since what; the fifties?
This should be a non-issue, bullet proof item. Unless of course my favorite auto maker cheesed out on me. And it seems that's the case.

The sticker that was on my windshield said Dearborn. It wouldn't surprise me one bit if our evap/blower units came from china. The smell we have is probably refrigerant, dye, mold and or mildew, and toxic waste in the plastic all mixed together. Refrigerant by itself does not smell like what we have.

Edit: I made some noise and got some movement. I guess sometimes the squeaky wheel gets the kick.

Well, they had my truck for 4 days (to do an 8 hr job) but they did take care of me with a rental. I'll see in the morning if the smell is gone...which I expect it will!
BUT.... Now another issue when I picked my truck up tonight!.. The electric fans are running SO high, I swear the damn things are going to come right out if my hood & are sooo obnoxiously loud! With 20,000 miles now on my truck, they NEVER were loud at all & actually never heard them until now! WTF???
I have seen other threads on here pertaining similar "loud electric fans", but from one horrible smell, to now deafening electric fan???
I called the dealer immediately & told them the issue & my service advisor is suppose to call me back tomorrow.
Anyways... This thread is about the smell..... When I picked it up & started it, there was no smell - so I think that is now resolved - will update a little later.
