I love my truck but it looks like 90% of the tsb fixes ford has out there doesnt really fix problem, or they cant figure it out. Its been years since this band aid smell poped up. You think in that time someone would post about what fixed problem.

It won't die with me. I didn't pay $5x,xxx for a truck to deal with a "problem" and chalk it up.

Its definitely temperature related, I dont think it would have anything to do with ignition. It only smells when above a certain temperature outside. With either ac or heater on. Freaking weird if you ask me.

hey guys and gals, i was here figuring out a wheel and tire combo, and stumbled across this thread, unlike so many others, my truck is older, its a 2010 f150 harley davidson screw 4x4, and sometime last year, this smell appeared in my truck as well. I have simply lived with it since I am out of warranty with mine. But will watch this thread with fingers crossed for a solution... just wanted to give my .02 from an older ford truck perspective.

35-42℉ today. I got a tiny wiff of it this morning, and then it was gone right away. I almost want to say it was left over from yesterday being a little warmer.
Never got a funny smell from my 05, ever. Except for whatever vehicle was in front me.
There are not enough components in this HVAC setup for us not to figure this out.
Not gonna die!

Somebody needs to voluntarily strip their dashboard apart...

Yep, little no no smell these last couple colder days.

Unfortunately mine is the same way. I have a ecoboost 2013 and I thought it smelled like a farm. But band aids better explains it. I washed the truck inside and out and washed under the truck and wheel wells hoping it was just something I ran over. I find that when I start the truck usually after it sits over night is when I notice it the most. Usually after a few minutes it seems to go away. Glad I am not crazy and it is a common issue. Sorry everyone else has it though.

If I could just get to Sat without it raining or something stupid interfering, I may do just that.

Do it for science!

I fear that if/when we find the cause, getting it repaired/replaced by the dealer will be a fight due to the nature of the problem (i.e., it only occurring after sitting for hours, and not being 100% broken).

It's definitely stronger depending on the temperature, and I'd say it starts around 40. This morning it was 44 and I could just barely smell it. Yesterday morning it was in the 20's and I couldn't smell anything. This past weekend it was around 80 and it was very strong.

Temperature causes expansion and contraction, so that could be something. Just an idea.
